Beach Restoration was hired by Hillsboro Beach to determine primary causes of their aggressive erosion issues. Hillsboro Beach is a private community and as such, does not have access to the level of state and federal funding available to other municipalities. It is important to Hillsboro Beach to develop long-term solutions that compliment future beach nourishment programs.

Beach Restoration mobilized a team of scientist and coastal experts to place instrumentation along their beach system to determine if the reef structure (cross shore impacts) were contributing to their critical erosion problem.

Beach Restoration analyzed the data and provided Hillsboro Beach with supporting documentation that eliminated the reefs as a cause and thus allowed the community to place its resources to develop solutions impacting along-shore dynamics. Beach Restoration is currently working with the town to develop a proposal which would allow them to implement a long-term, cost effective and environmentally friendly solution to reduce their erosion rates.
