Site Selection
The project site should have a minimum length of 2,500 - 3,000 meters, and will be sufficiently removed from an engineered inlet as to lie outside of the influence of the inlet. We estimate that this requirement will place the project site approximately 750 meters from an inlet. The project installation site will be flanked by "control" segments approximately 300 meters long on either side of the site (that is, 300 meter segments located updrift and downdrift of the installed section).
These control segments will have no CEMS® low-profile geo-textile systems, and will serve to illustrate the "unimproved" behavior of the beach, as well as the updrift and downdrift impacts, if any, of the geo-textile systems.
The "geo-textile" portion of the site will range from 2,000 to 2,600 meters in length, and will contain CEMS® low-profile geo-textile systems. The length, cross-section, aspect angle and spacing of the CEMS® geo-textile systems will be determined during the pre-construction study outlined herein. We anticipate that the CEMS® geo-textile systems may be up to 100 meters in length, and the spacing will be closer than the current traditional 2-to-4 times the groin length.
